We’ve finally received a first look at Amazon’s The Boys (via Newsarama), the upcoming adaption of the comic book series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. You can see the image for yourself below.
Paying tribute to the original book cover, the poster-style image shows us the cast in a circle looking downwards into the camera with a blood red, cloudy background behind them. Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), the Female (Karen Fukuhara), “Wee” Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid), Billy Butcher (Karl Urban), and Frenchie (Tomer Kapon) are all seen in the same positions as their comic book counterparts.
This show takes place in a world where superheroes embrace the darker side of their massive celebrity and fame. The story revolves around a group of vigilantes known informally as “the boys,” who set out to take down corrupt superheroes with no more than blue-collar grit and a willingness to fight dirty.

The first season of The Boys will run for eight episode. Eric Kripke (Supernatural) is working with Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen (Preacher) to bring the comic to life. Previously the adaptation was going to be a movie with Columbia Pictures, but it never saw the light of day.
“In a landscape saturated with superhero shows, The Boys is the next evolution in this popular genre,” said Sharon Tal Yguado, Head of Scripted Series at Amazon. “With Eric, Evan, Seth and Original Film all behind this series, we are excited to adapt this popular comic, from the visionary minds of Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, for television.”
The Boys will air via Amazon Prime in 2019. What do you think about Amazon’s The Boys adaptation? Let us know in the comment section below!
