See the Evolution of the Avengers: Age of Ultron End Credits Sequence

Witness the creation of the Avengers: Age of Ultron end credits

Just as different drafts of a script or cuts of a film exist at any point in time in the development and production process for a movie, so too do there exist different versions of every other facet of the film, including the opening and closing credits. Perception, a visual effects company based out of New York, was tasked with creating the Avengers: Age of Ultron end credits sequence, and it shouldn’t surprise you to know that the marble statue you saw in the final film wasn’t the initial idea. A few other ideas were put together before arriving at the “war monument,” and Perception has now detailed them specifically. You can see a montage of the various forms below followed by videos and images for each specific direction.

Direction A – Hive Mind

Perception’s first crack at the end titles was inspired by Ultron’s hive mind ability as seen in the film’s finale with his massive drone army. This idea would have seen the swarms of light reveal images for each title card.

Direction B – Crackle

The second pitch was designed after “renderings of power and pure energy” as seen in the pages of comics and inspired by classic panels of the various Marvel heroes.

Direction C – Iconic Moments

The third pitch incapsulated all of the film’s characters/locations/plot points into simpler forms, including “rich environments give moody context to each symbol, suggesting endless layers of iconic moments.”

Direction D – Earth’s Mightiest Heroes

The final pitch, and what eventually became the route of the end credits, was inspired by heroic war monuments and classical sculptures.
